"And The Light Reflects" was created during the making of the album "Gathering the Light (flau, 2021)", and is a twin of "Reflection" from the album. Both compositions are based on the theme of "reflection" and are connected by a minimalist middle section.
A journey of recollection from reality, a refrain of thought, an image from another perspective. The rain that begins in the evening continues to fall throughout the night and stops at dawn. The clouds soon clear and the light of dawn reflects off the raindrops, revealing a luminous world.
Jeff Bernhardt's trombone evokes clouds, leading us from a rainy midnight scene to the shining world of dawn.
The artwork is by Fuko Hirakawa, an artist living in Onomichi.
Plants and wooden frames are arranged using analog techniques. Layers of light connect the cold and lonely air of night and rain. The hazy contours remind us of an imaginary world yet to be seen and make us ponder the changing seasons and weather.

Jeff Bernhardt
